Bakhtiari Vintage Persian Rug
While originally woven by nomadic Bakhtiari, most authentic Bakhtiari rugs are woven in Bakhtiari settled communities in west central Iran southwest of Isfahan. Bakhtiari carpets are based on a cotton foundation (warp) with a wool weft usually taken from the herds of the producing tribe. Patterns are usually floral or garden-inspired.
The use of colors varies depending on the styles of certain tribes. Generally, they include shades of white, reds, browns, greens, and yellows.

Hamadan is a city in western Iran, 300 kilometers west of Tehran. It is one of the world’s oldest cities and is mentioned under the name of Ecbatana in the Bible. Different nuances of indigo blue and madder red dominate the colors.
The carpets are manufactured with a ropy, shiny, and often natural dyed hand-spun yarn, that provides a very durable surface and beautiful color scale.
